Winchester Car Imports is based in Hampshire in the south of the UK. We specialise in importing unique, high quality, pre-owned vehicles from Japan.

The idea of importing a rare or classic car is exciting but can seem daunting, however at Winchester Car Imports we can help you turn this great idea into a smooth, enjoyable, straightforward and transparent process.

We have built up a trusted network here in the UK and in Japan, which means that we are able to help you search for your next vehicle, purchase it on your behalf, inspect, photograph, transport it to the UK and even arrange delivery to any UK mainland destination if required. We can also assist with UK registration & MOT & servicing for you too. We offer a bespoke service for a fixed price.

Working out the costs

Registration & Management fee
In return for a £125 registration fee, you will receive vehicle matches based on your criteria, translated into English when required, delivered straight into your email inbox over a 12 month period. If you decide to purchase a vehicle with us, there is a fixed management fee of £500 which will cover our management of the entire purchase process for you, from start to finish.

Inspections
There are various optional checks and inspections that can be arranged which look at previous accident, mileage or credit history, prices start at about £20.

Auction and FOB
Unlike many importers Winchester Car Imports avoids complex charging schemes and hidden costs. The basic FOB (Free On Board – purchase cost of vehicle and all Japan side costs, excluding international shipping) charge is made up of the following four factors and is clearly set out before vehicle purchase.

• The ‘raw’ auction price of the vehicle or sale price if purchased through a dealership
• The internal transport costs of bringing it from auction or dealership to the Port
• The cost of passing the vehicle through Japanese customs
• Japanese export agent’s commission

Shipping
Shipping is arranged for you on the earliest possible ship at preferential rates, with WWL Logistics. All the import paperwork required to register the vehicle in the UK will be sent ahead with DHL.

Customs clearance
For a £70 fee, our UK port agent will ensure smooth customs clearance, VAT and Import charge handling.

Collection from Port
Your vehicle will then be transported to our secure premises, this service is included within our management fee. Your vehicle is then ready for collection or onward delivery.
